BIOGRAPHY OF DEBRA A. LAUZON

Debra A. Lauzon received her J.D. degree in March 1987 from Georgia State University College of Law where she graduated cum laude in the top five percent of her class. Ms. Lauzon was a Law Merit Scholarship recipient and selected Outstanding Student of 1986. Ms. Lauzon was admitted to practice in the State of Georgia in 1987 and in the State of California in 1988.

In law school, Ms. Lauzon assisted Professor Steven Kaminshine, Labor Law Professor, in researching and preparing a book on workers’ compensation in Georgia.

Also during law school, Ms. Lauzon clerked for John Marshall & Associates, a labor law firm, where she prepared a client brochure on the laws of each state regarding privacy and access rights to personnel files. Ms. Lauzon also clerked for Fisher & Phillips, a national labor law firm.

In Atlanta, Georgia, Ms. Lauzon was an associate with Morris, Manning & Martin, where she was responsible for various types of business litigation, including commercial real estate matters. In California, Ms. Lauzon was an associate with Koslov, Erickson & Cady, where she handled numerous enterprises. After Koslov, Erickson & Cady, Ms. Lauzon joined Alschuler, Grossman & Pines as a senior associate.

At Alschuler, Grossman & Pines, Ms. Lauzon concentrated her practice in employment litigation. She successfully handled many employment-related arbitrations and was involved in most of the firm’s wrongful termination cases. The cases in which she had responsibility included age discrimination, race discrimination, national origin discrimination, disability discrimination, gender discrimination, and sexual harassment. In 1992, she successfully defended at trial a major accounting firm in an employment breach of contract action. She was also a trial attorney in a wrongful termination case for a major defense contractor.

In 1994, Ms. Lauzon began her own practice as an independent contractor. In this capacity, she represented the County of Los Angeles and other governmental agencies in employment litigation cases. Ms. Lauzon has conducted training seminars for hundreds of employees on sexual harassment. She has also written articles on employment related issues, such as Selected Privacy Issues in the Workplace for the American Bar Association, and Selected Topics on Employment Law, and Section 2017 (d) Shields Sexual Conduct for the TIPS Employer-Employee Relations Committee Newsletter. Ms. Lauzon has composed numerous employee handbooks for employers.

Ms. Lauzon currently represents plaintiffs in harassment, discrimination, retaliation, wrongful termination and Labor Code matters. She also provides training seminars on these topics for employers and conducts independent investigations. Ms. Lauzon was recognized by the Manhattan Beach Chamber of Commerce's Women in Business Committee as the 2003 "Woman of the Year". Ms. Lauzon is the Past Chairman of the Board of the Manhattan Beach Chamber of Commerce and was the 2003 Business Person of the Year. Lauzon & Euler has twice been recognized as "The Community Investment Business of the Year". Ms. Lauzon is committed to her clients and her community.
